Kathryn “Kathy” M. Smith, 88, of Centralia, passed away, on Monday, February 10, 2025, surrounded by family.
Kathy was born on November 9, 1936, in Patoka, Illinois and was the daughter of the late George Washington and Leatha (Richards) Bowen. She married Donnie “Don” Smith, and they were blessed with sixty-seven years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 5, 2023.
Survivors include her son Mark F. Smith and wife Cindy of Centralia; daughter-in-law: Beth Kenny of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren: Tyler Smith of Aviston, Jaclyn Smith and Hannah Holt of Springfield, Mandy Albers and Trevor of Centralia, Henry Kenny-Smith and Maryellen LaCava of Denver, Colorado, and Eleanor Kenny-Smith and Steven Price of Denver, Colorado; and many close friends that she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Michael Smith, and 8 brothers and sisters.
Kathy was a successful real estate agent at Coldwell Banker Allen Geary Real Estate for many years before retiring in 2014. She also served on various volunteer committees in Centralia including the Historical Museum and was a faithful member of Business Professional Women (BPW) for many years and during her time with BPW she served as the BPW president and was awarded Woman of the Year.
Per Kathy’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a graveside service will be held on February 21, 2025, at 11:00 am at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date.
