The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to allow three power poles in the way of new Fairview Park playground equipment to be moved.  Under the proposal, the city would grant Ameren Illinois a perpetual underground electrical easement and pay $36,002 for the lines to be moved underground and four more efficient LED lights to be installed.  The goal is to have the new playground equipment installed by the time school ends.

The council will be asked to reduce the number of available liquor licenses to those currently in use.  The Outback and Estes Park did not renew Class A licenses and Centralia House surrendered their license with sale of the business.  Class C licenses are being reduced due to CVS and Party Liquors closing.   Bonnie’s Cafe is currently requesting a Class E liquor license for a restaurant business.   Mayor Bryan Kuder is recommending the license be approved to allow for continued improvements to the business.

The council will be asked to authorize the use of Raccoon Lake for boat races hosted by the National Boat Racing Association on the weekend of August 23rd and 24th.

Centralia Police Department Administrative Assistant Connie Ballantini will receive a service award for 25 years of service.

The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
