It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert “Mook” Dwayne Marcum, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Mook passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the age of 70, at his home in Centralia, Illinois.

Born on a warm Saturday, July 9, 1955, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the son of Paul Miller and Evelyn (Marcum) Miller. Mook married Rebecca “Becky” McCarrey on September 29, 2012, and she survives.

Mook lived a life full of joy, love, and laughter. He was the cherished husband of Becky Marcum and a devoted father to three children: Nathan Marcum and wife Kerry of St. Charles, Missouri; Erika Marcum and Matt Reynolds of Centralia; and Ashlee Hunnicutt and husband Michael of Centralia. He was a proud grandfather to three beautiful grandchildren: Aiden, Adalyn, and Ayven, who brought immense light into his life.

Mook is also survived by his loyal four-legged companions, Boots, Peanut, and Smokey the Cat, who were treasured members of the Marcum household. He leaves behind a brother, Michael Marcum of Salem, and a sister, Kathy Gibson of Centralia, along with several nieces, nephews, and a sister-in-law, Darlene Nollman of Centralia. His warm presence and infectious spirit will be missed by several special friends who were lucky to call him a part of their lives.

Preceding him in death were his loving parents and brothers-in-law, Doug Gibson, Jerry McCarrey, and Ken McCarrey, with whom Mook has now reunited.

Mook dedicated 29 years of hard work at UPS until his retirement, where he was known for his unwavering work ethic and kind demeanor. An avid outdoorsman, Mook was passionate about fishing and boating, and he found great joy in serving on the lake patrol for Centralia and Raccoon Lake. He truly enjoyed the lake life, especially taking care of his lawn, flowers, and garden. Above all, Mook loved his family with all his heart, always greeting the world with a smile and never meeting a stranger.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois. Family and friends are invited to join a visitation on the same day from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the family and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home, located at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523.
