The City of Centralia Public Works Department is now responsible for all yard waste collection. In many places, yard waste collection will not be on the same day as trash collection. City officials say there is no change in the regular trash pickup schedule.
Residents with Monday and Tuesday trash collection days (limbs and yard debris) will now be collected on Tuesday.
Residents with Wednesday and Thursday trash collection days will have yard waste collected on Wednesday.
Residents with Friday trash collection will have yard waste collected on Thursday.
The types of materials that can be collected on yard waste pick-up days are:
- Grass, leaves, flowers, and small tree trimmings (less than two feet long and two inches in diameter). Those items should be placed in a biodegradable bag or a reusable container weighing no more than 35 pounds.
- Small quantities of tree limbs will be collected with no bundling required.
- Large quantities of tree limbs or tree removal debris will not be the responsibility of the city. The resident will be responsible for the removal of the debris.
Yard waste should be placed by the curb on the updated collection day for proper pickup. The city thanks you for your understanding and cooperation as they make this a more efficient service for residents.
