A 40-year-old Odin man has been sentenced to four years in prison after ending a guilty plea in Marion County Court to a reduced charge of robbery.
Lloyd McMullin of North Everett had a Class X charge of armed robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon dropped as part of the plea.
In addition to the prison time, McMullin will have to complete one year of mandatory supervised release, given day for day credit for time served, a recommendation for substance abuse counseling while in prison as well as paying $4,000 in restitution to the victim.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department said the robbery occurred on the West Boone Street Road while McMullin was giving a test drive of a car the victim planned to purchase from McMullin. McMullin allegedly took the $2,000 the victim planned to pay for the car along with another $2,000.
When another car approached, the alleged victim refused to get back into the car and flagged down the approaching motorist for help.
McMullin had left the area before deputies arrived, but was later taken into custody at his home.
