Two residents of a double wide mobile home in the 1900 block of South Perrine Street southeast of Centralia were taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of apparent minor burns after the home was gutted by fire late Monday night.

Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera says heavy fire was showing from the middle of the mobile home and it had already broken through the roof when firefighters arrived.  Initial reports also indicated possible entrapment.

However, it was later learned the two occupants, Pamela Eaker and Alysha Eaker, had escaped through the fire and were outside.  Pamela Eaker was identified as the owner of the home.   They were taken by Lifestar Ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

While the outside shell of the mobile home is still standing, the home was gutted.

Boshera says the Illinois Fire Marshal’s office has found the fire to be accidental as a result of smoking.

The Centralia Fire Protection District received mutual aid assistance on the scene from the City of Centralia, Irvington and Kell, while Odin stood by at the Centralia Fire Protection District in the event of another call.

The fire alarm first came in at 11 Monday night.   Firemen remained on the scene about 2.5 hours.
