Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps was able to arrest a 43-year-old rural Iuka man following a lengthy high-speed chase on a motorcycle Monday afternoon.

Cripps says the chase began after he spotted Jason White of Foster Road traveling in the opposite direction on Route 161.   The sheriff knew White was wanted on multiple warrants, so he turned around to follow the cycle.

White pulled into Biggie’s near Interstate 57, but then after Cripps told him to stay, he took off eastbound on Route 161.   Speeds reached more than 100 miles an hour on the Route 161 Extension and on Adams Road through the Cartter area.  The chase continued on the County Farm Road to England Road where White turned too quickly and laid down the bike.

White attempted to get back on the cycle but was taken into custody before he could resume the chase.

White said he was not hurt and was transported to the Marion County Jail on new charges of fleeing and eluding police and driving on a revoked license as well as on outstanding Marion, Fayette, Clay, and Clinton County warrants.
