The Odin Fire Protection District presented several annual awards at its annual appreciation dinner over the weekend.
District firefighters selected Dakota Sloat as Firefighter of the Year. Sloat responded to 85-percent of the district’s fire calls last year. Fire Chief Greg Smith says Sloat was always available to train and help out.
Remmington Burleyson was named Rookie of the Year. Burleyson is currently a student at Christ Our Rock High School and plans to pursue a career in engineering after graduating from high school.

The firefighters surprised Chief Smith with the First Responder of the Year.

Odin Fire Chief Greg Smith was named Odin’s First Responder of the Year.
The department also honored 30-year department member Jo Jo Hodge who has had to retire due to a medical condition. Smith says Hodge was always there and ready to help.
