A Centralia home undergoing renovation was damaged by a suspicious fire late Sunday night.
Centralia City Firemen say the home in the 1400 block of South Maple was undergoing renovation by its owner Chris Feig and no one was living there. The fire began in multiple rooms with fires set in the carpeting with the use of an accelerant. Firemen got a quick knockdown and damage was limited to the burned carpeting and smoke.
The Centralia City Fire Department is investigating the fire along with the State Fire Marshall’s office.
A passerby first spotted the blaze at 10:44 Sunday night as some smoke was showing along with some flames inside the residence.
Firemen got the fire knocked down in about 20 minutes and were on the scene for about an hour.
All available off duty firemen were called in to cover the Centralia Fire station in the event of another fire.
