The 73rd Salem Invitational Tournament opened up last night.

The Centralia Orphans looked every bit like the top seed in the 2nd game as they dominated from the jump against Effingham on their way to a 68-29 victory.  Centralia hit 7 three pointers and didn’t have a turnover in the opening half as they led 49-15 at the break.  Freshman Archie Goewey led Centralia with 16, Devin Meier finished with 11 and Dustyn Collins added 9. Centralia advances to Friday’s first semifinal at 6pm when they get Champaign Central.

In the night’s first game the Maroons took care of Carbondale 60-49.  Chris Bush led Champaign with 22, Luke Swanson finished with 13 and David Riley added 10.  The Terriers got 18 from Jaxon Marlow-Evans and 17 from Davin Wooley.

The Tournament continues tonight with the other two opening round games.  At 6pm, TTown returns to the tournament as they take on Charleston followed by Salem and Mt Vernon at 7:30.  Both games will be on 100.1 FM and streaming at WJBDradio.com.
