With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Patricia Beth Boothman, a cherished resident of Sandoval, Illinois. Beth departed this life peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on October 9, 1957, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Kenneth Tomes, Sr., and Shirley (Byrne) Tomes. She married the love of her life, Don Boothman, Jr., in June of 1998, and he survives.
Beth was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched many lives with her kindness and generosity. Her love for life was evident in her passion for flea markets and yard sales, her devotion to nurturing her beloved plants, and, most of all, the joy she found in spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.
Her professional career was marked by 14 years of service at Bettendorf-Stanford in Salem, where she was not only a valued team member but also a dear friend to many of her colleagues.
Beth is lovingly remembered by her mother, Shirley Tomes of Alabama; her devoted husband, Don Boothman, Jr. of Sandoval; and her four children: Jennifer Vandiver and husband Shawn of Louisville, Kentucky, Michael Elder of Louisville, Kentucky, James Basham and wife Jamie of Utica, Kentucky, and Roy Hustedde and wife Kari of Salem. Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren—Jada, Marley, Layla, James, Alyssa, Abigail, Landon, Caleb, and Allie—and her great-grandchildren—Emily, Carson, Kinsley, Bella, and Prince. Beth is also survived by her siblings, Kenneth Tomes, Jr., and wife Connie of Sandoval, Robert Tomes of Alabama, and Barbara Windell and husband Mike of Jeffersonville, Indiana. She will be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews.
Beth was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Tomes, Sr., her sister, Kathy Tomes, and her brother-in-law, Bosco.
Funeral services to honor Beth’s life will be held at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM.
