Centralia’s new city manager Galen Mahle was sworn in at the Centralia City Council chambers Thursday afternoon. A small crowd turned out to welcome Mahle to city hall. Mahle says he’s been looking forward to returning to work in Centralia.
“Getting to come back here and work in Centralia for the first time in ten years is one thing I’m very much looking forward to. Getting to work with and for the community that I grew up in is very near and dear to my heart. Ten years ago, I stated that I wanted to go out in other communities and learn other things to bring back to Centralia, and I’m getting to do that starting now. The new comprehensive plan is something that’s going to get a great deal of focus from us moving forward. It took a long time to put together, and there’s a lot of great details in it that we will work on over the next few years.”
After being sworn in, Mahle thanked the his family, the staff at City Hall, and the audience in attendance. He said he plans to “hit the ground running” next Tuesday when he officially begins working as city manager.
