A 31-year-old Wamac woman has been sanctioned to 30 days in the Marion County Jail by Judge Mark Stedelin for violation of her pre-trial release.

Briana Barnes of Sanders Street received the sanction after she was charged with new offenses of aggravated battery and domestic battery for allegedly striking a male victim in the arm with thread cutters on January 9th.  She was already on pre-trial release after being charged on November 25th with aggravated domestic battery after allegedly cutting the same male victim on the nose with a pair of scissors.

Barnes claims she was also a victim as the alleged victim allegedly tried to strangle her.

Wamac Police say they responded to multiple instances of domestic violence between the two in the November time frame, including an earlier stabbing following a November 15th incident

In the latest incident on January 9th, Wamac Police reports indicate the victim was struck in the hand and biceps by bicycle forks causing significant bruising.  His triceps area was hurt badly enough to require stitches.

Barnes claimed the alleged victim had locked her in a bedroom the prior night and had followed her out of the home before swinging the bicycle forks at him.

Barnes is next due in court on January 28th on pending charges.
