The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports at least three semi trucks and one other vehicle slid off Interstate 57 just south of the US 50 exit at Salem around 8:30 Friday night.
The road surface apparently iced up on part of the elevated section of the roadway.
Sheriff’s Deputies report a total of eight people signed refusals for hospital treatment and no one was taken to the hospital.
The incident did not result in the Interstate being shut down.
Salem Firemen were called to assist. State Police took over the investigation upon arrival and will complete reports in the incident.
