An investigation is underway into the death of a one year old rural Odin girl who was found not breathing at her home on Thursday night.
The young female later was pronounced dead at Salem Township Hospital.
Funeral services for Shawna Sue McDaneld will be held on Monday at 11:30 at the Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be held from 9:30 Monday morning until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin.
The initial response to the scene was from Odin Fire EMS and United Medical Response after a 911 call was received about the girl not breathing.
An autopsy and investigation into the death is ongoing by the Marion County Coroner’s Office, Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Child Death Task Force.
No other details are being released at the present time.
The sheriff and coroner are offering their condolences and prayers to the family of the child.
