A car was destroyed by fire in Iuka early Tuesday morning.
Iuka Fire Chief Kenny Eagan says Frankie Upchurch had just started the car in his driveway in the 600 block of North Avenue when he started smelling something. He pulled the vehicle away from everything else before the fire broke out.
Eagan says there was a lot of fire on their arrival as the fire had burned the gas line.
The fire appears to have started in the engine compartment.
The fire call was received at 4:40 Tuesday morning. Firemen were on the scene for about 30 minutes.
