One person was airlifted from the scene of a one vehicle rollover crash Wednesday night on the Route 161 Extension near Wallis Road in rural Kell.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Justin Sherrod of Fairborn, Ohio was attempted to pass another vehicle when he lost control, ran off the side of the road and overturned multiple times.
Sherrod refused EMS at the scene, but was later taken by a sheriff’s deputy to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.
A passenger in the car, 23-year-old Deanna Anderson of Belleville, was airlifted from the scene to St. Louis University Hospital.
Both the driver and passenger were able to get out of the vehicle on their own.
Sherrod was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Kell Firemen created a landing zone on Route 161 Extension for the Air Evac Helicopter to land.
The crash was reported at 8:07 Wednesday night.
