Moats, Runge & Jones In Reno For Team USA Trials

For a trio of area bowlers, this week is as important as it comes as they will head to Reno, Nevada for the 2025 USBC Team USA Trials and US Amateur held January 2-7 at the National Bowling Stadium.

The event is open to USBC members age 16 and older interested in competing for Junior Team USA and Team USA.  The field is limited to 190 men and 190 women.

Included is Salem senior Silas Moats, Christ Our Rock grad Rhett Runge and Vandalia student Macy Jones.

Moats is part of the two-time defending IHSA state champion Wildcats team.  He has had success in Junior Gold Tournaments in the past and helped his team to a 3rd place finish at the High School National Tournament in the summer held in Pennsylvania.

Rhett Runge is from Odin and a graduate of Christ Our Rock High School.  He is currently a freshman on at Oklahoma Christian University where he is also on the bowling team.  Runge has also spent the last several years competing on the Junior Gold circuit as well as other tournaments both locally and regionally.

Macy Jones is a student at Vandalia High School and from Shobonier.  She is no stranger to big time tournaments where she has been a Jr Gold Runner up, she qualified for the Jr Team USA Developmental Team last year, she is a 5-time Elite Youth Tour champ and was 3rd at the IHSA State Tournament in her young career.  She is also sponsored by Motiv.

The tournament will have 5 rounds where 12 men and 12 women will be named to the 2025 Team USA.
