HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese Welcomes First Baby of 2025

HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese has welcomed its first baby of the new year.

Cal Michael Thompson arrived at exactly midnight on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 20½ inches long.

Cal’s proud parents are Matthew and Haley Thompson of Breese.

In celebration of being the first baby born in 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Cal and his family were presented with a gift basket of baby items from the St. Joseph’s Women and Infants Center and the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. The gift basket included a baby quilt, a knitted blanket, stuffed animals, a lotion set and a crib cross. The Breese Lions Club also presented the family with a $100 gift card.

For others expecting in 2025, the hospital reports they offer a wide range of services for mothers and infants and has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care.  The program recognizes their integrated, coordinated, patient-centered care for complicated and uncomplicated pregnancies and births.
