The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is trying to determine what happened to a 40-year-old Salem area woman who was found lying in the roadway near Cartter and Summertime Roads in the Cartter area with serious injuries.
A passerby found the woman around 11:15 Tuesday night. There was no vehicle around. The woman was reportedly bleeding from the head along with other injuries. Her name has not been released.
While it is believed the woman may have been hit by a vehicle, that is also still under investigation.
An Air Evac helicopter was requested but declined due to the weather. The woman was later transferred to Salem Township Hospital via United Medical Response.
