Ameren Illinois reports a broken cross arm on a pole on the south side of Centralia was the cause of an early Wednesday morning power outage that left 2,300 Centralia area residents in the dark.

The outage began around four am.  After locating the problem, Ameren switched all customers to other circuits by 7:25 Wednesday morning to restore power.   Crews then continued to work on repairs to the broken cross arm.
