Wamac Police have arrested a 19-year-old Salem man who became involved in an altercation with a man and woman he wanted to buy alcohol for him.

Police Chief Steve Prather says Jacob Miller was located by Salem Police during a Monday night traffic stop and charged with mob action, aggravated battery and battery in connection with the December 13th incident at the Casey’s Store in Wamac.

Prather says Miller and a second person still at large approached a man and woman about buying them liquor because they were underage.  The man and woman were given $30.  The two went inside the store and broke the $20 bill.  They came back out without purchasing any liquor and only returned $25 of the $30.

An altercation followed where the woman, who was reportedly pregnant, was allegedly punched by Miller.  The person with Miller then attempted to hit the man and woman with a car.

The second suspect is still being sought by Wamac Police.
