Gregg Surpasses 1000 Points, Salem Wins Benton Consy Title

By WJBD Staff Dec 31, 2024 | 7:21 AM

The Salem Lady Wildcats won the Consolation Championship at the Benton Christmas Classic with their 54-41 win over Harrisburg.  Salem senior Emma Gregg needed 13 points to reach 1000 in her career, and reached that mark late in the game with a free throw, she finished with 14.  She becomes just the 12th 1000 point scorer in Lady Wildcat’s history.  Jordan Kessler, who could be the next Lady Cat to accomplish it, finished with 13 and Kale Benjamin had a solid game with 11.

Gregg was also named to the All Tournament Team along with Mt Vernon’s Melania Zedalis and Kamaree Pollard as well as Carlyle’s Lera Schmeink and Sophia Hoffman.  Also on the Team were Suhmer Daubert and Ayva Rush of Vienna, Makenna Witham of Triad, Isabelle Edwards and Marlee Durbin of Civic Memorial.

Interesting fact from the Benton Tournament, the first three games of the day on Monday each had 1000 point scorers reach their milestone.  Prior to Emma Gregg, Frankfort’s Bailey Neibch and Raycie Phelps of Hamilton County each pulled off the feat.
