The Salem Lady Cats dropped their opener at the Benton Christmas Classic 61-56 in overtime. Emma Gregg scored 2 of her 24 in the final seconds hitting a baseline jumper to send the game to extra time. The Lady Cats will play at 9am this morning against the JV from Benton after their loss to Mt Vernon 64-19.
Also in first round games, Vienna beat Carterville 68-25, Carbondale 59-38 over Hamilton County, Civic Memorial beat West Frankfort 56-32, Olney over Harrisburg 53-42, Carlyle 80-27 over Herrin and Triad beat Benton 64-44.
