A 22-year-old Salem man was charged in Marion County Court on Friday with a Class 4 felony of improper passing of an emergency vehicle.
Andrew Peak of South College is accused of approaching a stationary emergency vehicle, being a fire truck, on State Route 37 near Broom Road and colliding with a pickup truck causing injury to 25-year-old Logan Wood of Odin. The crash occurred on October 18th.
After allegedly passing the fire truck and a worker present for traffic control, Peak is accused of striking the passenger side of a pickup truck owned by a firefighter and driven by a 17-year-old female from Salem.
State Police reports indicate the 17-year-old female and Wood were both transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Peak was treated for minor injuries on the scene.
The fire department was still on the scene after earlier transporting a four-year-old boy to the hospital who was having a seizure.
Peak was given a notice to appear in court on January 15th.
