Walter Grimes, 67, of Centralia passed away Friday, December 12, 2025, at Centralia Manor in Centralia. He was born on May 30, 1958, in New Madrid County, Arkansas, the youngest son of six children to, Walter and Jewell (Timms) Grimes.

Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Cindy Payne, Mindy Konhorst, Beth Baggett, Dianna Lee, Jerry Grimes, Jeff Grimes, and Dooley Gray; many great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jewell Grimes; sisters, Cealia Gray, Janet Payne, Vivian Grimes, Althea Grimes; Brother, Bobby Grimes; and nephew, Billy Grimes.

Walter was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Centralia. He worked as a mechanic at Baldridges for fifteen years. Walter liked to spend quiet afternoons fishing for anything that would bite. He kept his mind sharp and active while playing computer games at home. Walter was a number one Star Trek fan. A Trekkie who loved to watch the show and knew the episodes by heart. His family was so important to him and Walter will forever be remembered as the “fun uncle”, especially by his nephew, Ryan Baggett.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2025, at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin with Pastor Jonathan Urshan officiating. Memorials may be made in Walter’s honor to the Centralia Humane Society and will be accepted for his family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia.
