The Centralia City Council appears to be ready to name its recently appointed recreation director as its new city manager to replace Kory Smith who announced his resignation at the end of Monday’s meeting.
Part of the agenda for a special city council meeting called for Thursday evening indicates a conditional offer has been made to Galen Mahle as the next City Manager for the City of Centralia. The appointment would be effective January 21st of next year. The resolution indicates the city council and Mahle have reached an accord as to the terms of his employment and have memorialized the terms in an employment agreement.
Also at Thursday’s special meeting, the council will be asked to appoint City Clerk Kim Enke as Administrative Officer to perform the duties of the city manager effective January 3rd until the new city manager takes over.
Smith announced at the end of Monday night’s city council meeting that he would be resigning next month to return to the private practice of law at the Centralia law firm of Crain Miller & Wernsman.
The special city council meeting on Thursday will begin at 6:30 pm at Centralia City Hall.
