It was a record setting day at the 70th Conrad Allen Tournament in Wayne City on its first day Saturday. Webber Township junior Nathaniel Marlow set a tournament record with 52 points as his team knocked off Crab Orchard 72-37. The Tournament Record he broke was set by a Crab Orchard player, Ben Kissing, who scored 49 points in a single game during the 2010 Tournament. The 52 points by Marlow is also a new high mark for any boys basketball game ever played at Wayne City High School. It is also a new scoring record for the Webber High School basketball program.
Also in opening day action, North Clay beat Grayville 84-56, Wayne City opened with a 63-38 win over Thompsonville. Lovejoy forfeited both games to Cisne and Edwards County. The tournament continues tonight with 3 games. Thompsonville and Grayville will play at 5:30 followed by Sandoval and North Clay at 7 and then Webber and Cisne play at 8:30.
