The Salem Wildcats were down over 100 pins heading into the final game at the Abe Lincoln Invitational in Springfield….needing to shoot over 1084 the final game to pull out the win, Salem shot 1138 and won the championship. Silas Moats had a day for the ages for the Wildcats.
In the morning, he achieved the school’s first 800 series shooting 268, 242, 292. He followed that up with afternoon games of 279, 238, 224 to average 256 for the day and finish with 1541.
He easily won the individual title. Salem’s Rhett Detering was 5th overall shooting 1303, followed by Keaton Gullion with 1211 and Ryan Detering 1142.
Freshman Nicholi Mahranka played in 3 games and took advantage of his opportunity with 200, 223 and a 256 in the clinching 6th and final game along with Gullion’s 249.
The Lady Wildcats were 7th overall led by Mallory Hopkins 1140. Willow Amburgey’s 1024 day and Ava Birch added a 1021 to help the Lady Cats.
