A mobile home on the north side of Salem was heavily damaged by fire Wednesday morning.

Assistant Salem Fire Protection District Chief Bill Fulton says upon entering the home at 2111 Maplewood they found fire in the bedroom closet.   The fire had started to spread into the bedroom when firemen got a quick knockdown.  However, there was heavy smoke and water damage to the entire mobile home.

The occupant, Lyle Dalton, was woke up by a neighbor and escaped safely.

The State Fire Marshal’s office has ruled the fire as an electrical problem.

The mobile home is owned by Jeff Thomas of Rocky Mountain, MO.

Firemen first received the call at 6:20 Wednesday morning.  Odin and Kinmundy-Alma Firemen were called for mutual aid on the scene and Kell Firemen stood by at the Salem Fire Station in the event of another fire.

The call was the 300th of the year for the Salem Fire Protection District.
