The Centralia Orphans won their 4th straight Roxana Hoopsgiving Tournament beating East St Louis on Saturday night in the finals 63-51. Staunton won the 3rd place game over Southwestern 50-38. Carbondale over Civic Memorial for 5th place 63-44, Alton Marquette beat Gateway Legacy in the 7th place game 34-30, Roxana over Freeburg for 9th place 69-53 and Jerseyville beat EAWR in the 11th place game 58-32. Centralia’s Dustyn Collins was named tournament MVP and joined on the team by Jaxson Hancock.
Sandoval dropped the championship game of the Elverado Turkey Tournament falling to Crab Orchard 91-69. Galatia beat Pope County in the third place game 82-39, Cairo won the consolation title over Johnston City 67-40, Elverado over Agape Christian for 7th place 56-48. Sandoval’s Quintin Heinzman was named All Tournament alongside Cameron Clark of Crab Orchard who was MVP, Nolan Causey of Johnston City, McKrowlee Pirtle of Cairo, Eli Pressor of Pope County, Cameron Miller of Galatia and Elverado’s Trenton Shirley.
South Central went 3-1 at the Mulberry Grove Tournament winning the 3rd place game Saturday over the host Aces 54-38. Brody Markley scored 20 in the win, Weston Neilson added 17. Father McGivney won the title beating Maryville Christian 49-43. St Elmo/Brownston won the 5th place game beating Lebanon 77-50 and Mt Oliver over Ramsey 54-45 in the 7th place game. South Central’s Brody Markley was named MVP. He was joined on the All Tournament team by his teammates Seth Bergmann and Westin Neilson.
Waltonville won the 50th annual Christopher Tournament beating Christopher in the finals 57-47. Marissa Coulterville beat New Athens in the third place game 61-55, Webber Township knocked off Patoka/Odin in the consolation finals 66-33, Thompsonville beat Zeigler Royalton in the 7th place game 60-47. It was a big tournament for Webber junior Nathaniel Marlow. He broke 2 records at the tournament that have stood for 43 years. First he broke Sandoval’s Todd Murray’s single game record scoring 45 versus New Athens. He also broke Murray’s tournament point total in a 3 game span scoring 114 points. Waltonville’s Gage Peterson was Tournament MVP. Patoka/Odin’s Lincoln Roberts was also All Tournament.
Columbia finished up the Wesclin Tip Off Round Robin undefeated after beating the hosts 69-42. Also Nashville over Mater Dei 63-52.
Casey-Westfield won the Cumberland Thanksgiving title over Dieterich 59-48. Marshall beat Vandalia for 3rd place 54-49, North Clay over Cumberland in the consolation finals 64-58, Newton won 7th place over Okaw Valley 57-47.
Edwardsville took home the title of the St Anthony Turkey Tournament beating Champaign Central 69-63. Breese Central knocked off St Anthony in the third place game 46-43. Mattoon beat Rantoul for 5th place 72-63 and Effingham over Robinson for 7th place 66-29.
Collinsville won the Granite City Stove Top Classic. The All Tournament team included Mount Vernon’s Trevor McClure.
Saturday was the final night of the The Classic Turkey Tournament in Vienna. The hosts won the title after beating Massac County in their final round robin game 58-43. This was after knocking off the #1 ranked team in 1a Mounds Meridian on Friday 71-65. Mounds bounced back to beat Carrier Mills 98-39. It was the first time in 18 years the host Eagles have won their tournament. Hunter Webb was named MVP.
Tonight is the 2nd day of the Carlyle Kaskaskian Classic. Okawville will take on Pinckneyville at 6pm and Flora will take on Carlyle at 7:30.
It’s night two of the Trico Invitational. Steeleville will take on Red Bud followed by Trico and Gibault.
At the DuQuoin Tip Off Classic tonight in the opening night, Sparta takes on Carmi at 5, Herrin and Sesser Valier at 6:30 and DuQuoin takes on Chester at 8pm.
The Goreville Tournament opens tonight. Anna Jonesboro takes on Hardin County followed by Goreville and Harrisburg.
The Hamilton County Foxes Invitational starts tonight. West Frankfort opens with Gallatin County followed by NCOE and Hamilton County and then Edwards County takes on Wayne City.
