The 50th IHSA prep football season is in the books. On Friday at Hancock Stadium in Normal, Belleville Althoff won the 1a title over Lena Winslow 57-14. It’s the first state title for the Crusaders since 1990. Chicago Christian won their school’s first ever state title in any sport winning the 2a title over Maroa Forsyth 47-0. Lombard Montini won the 3a title beating Monticello 49-8. Mt Zion dropped the 4a game 40-6.
On Saturday, Nazareth Academy beat Joliet Catholic 29-27 for the 5a title. East St Louis won the 6a crown over Geneva 48-28. Chicago Mt Carmel is the 7a champs beating Batavia 55-34. And in a game that finished at 11:40 pm on Saturday night, Loyola Academy won the 8a title beating Elmhurst York 35-14.
