While South Central Illinois received more than three inches of snow in some locations Saturday, most melted when hitting the pavement until late afternoon.   That’s when several accidents were reported due to slick road conditions.   Fortunately, there were no reports of any injury wrecks in Marion County.

The Centralia Water Plant reported 3.5 inches of snow on the ground when the snow ended around nine Saturday night.  It melted down to .3 inches of precipitation.

The Salem Water Plant reported 1.8 inches of snow still on the ground at seven Sunday morning, melting down to .22 inches of precipitation.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports a vehicle rolled over when losing control on the 3700 block of County Farm Road southeast of Salem.  24-year-old Allen Hempen-Jones of Harrison Street in Mt. Vernon could get out of the vehicle on his own.

Another vehicle slid off Route 37 near Cartter Road ending up in a field.
