With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved man whose life was deeply rooted in the beauty of the outdoors.  Robert W. Davis, 50, of Carlyle, Illinois, passed away at his home on November 21, 2025.  Robert, also known as Goose, was born December 30, 1974, in Alton, Illinois, to Donald Davis and Olive Tate (Main), who preceded him in death, along with his grandfather, James Davis, with whom he shared his passion for the outdoors.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he found his greatest joy in the early morning calm of a lake, the quiet of the woods, and the simple peace that only nature could provide. The outdoors was not just a hobby to him—it was his sanctuary, his passion, and the place where he felt most alive.

He approached life with the same spirit he carried into the wilderness: patient, strong, humble, and deeply appreciative of every moment. Those who knew him will remember his warm laugh, his steady presence, and the stories he shared around campfires, kitchen tables, and anywhere friends and family gathered.

He is survived by the love of his life, Malissa Ford; his daughter, Olivia Davis; and his three sons, Zach Ford (Jinky), Isaiah Smith (Dereka), and Dakota Holle. He is also survived by his father, Don Davis; his brother, Brian Davis; his sister, Annette Highley (Jimmy); his mother-in-law, Nancy Hill, and 5 grandchildren whom he deeply adored and loved spending time with. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and countless friends who loved him and will forever feel the impact of his life.

His memory will live on in the forests he walked, the waters he fished, and the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Though he has taken his final journey, the legacy of his love, laughter, and adventurous spirit will remain with us always.

Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home, 1111 Clinton Street, Carlyle, Illinois, on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Online condolences can be shared by visiting www.ZierenFuneralHome.com.
