The William Jennings Bryan Birthplace has been decorated for the Christmas Holiday Season and free tickets are now available to tour the home.
Salem City Councilman Jim Koehler says this will be a chance to step back into history.
“We are having the home redecorated as it would have been in the early 1900s when the Bryan’s spent their last Christmas there. It will all be lit with lamps. We’ll have Mrs. Bryan and her oldest daughter Ruth there. We’ll have carolers, we’ll have a violinist, we’ll have coffee and tea donated by 6-10. We have cookies and other things done by the Salem Community High School class. The big thing is it’s free, but you have to have a reservation.”
Koehler says to make a reservation call him at (618) 267-3829 or Historical Commission member Myron Lloyd at 618-267-1238. There is no ticket to mess with, your name will be on the list at your reserved time. Reservations are available at seven, 7:30, 8:00 and 8:30 pm.
Donations are always appreciated but are optional.
