A 92-year-old Salem woman was injured when she lost control of her car on the 1400 block of Hawthorn Road and crashed into a road sign and a power pole.

Salem Police say Verna Steinkamp of Sunset Drive in Centralia was traveling northbound when an oncoming motorist honked his horn and she swerved to the right and hit a road sign and street light pole.  The pole fell across both lanes of Hawthorn Road, blocking traffic for about an hour.

Steinkamp was able to get out of her vehicle on her own.  She was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.

She was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The crash occurred at 9:59 Tuesday morning.
