A 25-year-old Centralia man has been arrested for aggravated battery in connection with a Tuesday morning stabbing in the 1400 block of South Walnut.

Centralia Police report Christopher McClelland of Dover Street reportedly ran from the scene, but was located a short time later.

Police say the male victim from Centralia reportedly sustained a minor injury to his arm when stabbed with a small bladed knife.   He declined medical treatment.

Police say the two knew each other and had been involved in a prior disagreement before meeting up in the 1400 block of South Walnut.  One witness told police that the alleged victim was chasing McClelland with a golf club before the stabbing occurred.

McClelland was taken to the Marion County Jail after the State’s Attorney’s office agreed there was enough to charge McClelland.  He was also arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant on a pending charge on a criminal damage to property charge.  McClelland was also on parole which has been revoked due to the new incident.

The stabbing occurred around eight Tuesday morning.
