Centralia City Schools District 135 officially hired Beth Hollenkamp, current assistant principal at Centralia Junior High School, as assistant superintendent beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Hollenkamp will fill the position currently held by Christina Becker, who will become superintendent upon the departure of Craig Clark. Hollenkamp said she is looking forward to taking on the new role and working with the school board.
In other business, the board approved the tentative tax levy with a 4.9% increase from last year’s extension. The final levy will be approved at the December meeting. A 4.9% increase falls below the 5% threshold for a Truth in Taxation hearing, so a hearing will not be required.
The board approved Category 2 E-rate purchases from CDWG for UPS battery units and network rack equipment for $12,791.14, and from Bytespeed for wireless access points and switches at a cost of $53,830. They also approved the creation of a Health Refund Account with Egyptian Trust.
Glass and Shuffett was scheduled to present the yearly audit at the board meeting, but delayed to next month’s meeting. This is the second time the audit has been delayed, as it was originally scheduled for October.
Gabriel Langenfeld was hired as Schiller individual paraprofessional, Angela Brubaker was hired as Schiller individual paraprofessional, and Jamesha Scott was hired as part-time individual paraprofessional.
The board accepted the resignations of Erin Del Sasso as seventh grade math teacher and Jennifer Heinrichsmeyer as bus driver.
