The IHSA volleyball sectional championships were last night.
Hardin Calhoun won the South Central Sectional beating Nokomis in straight sets. NCOE beat Edwards County in three sets at Cobden. Windsor/Stew-Stras won another Sectional, this time beating Heyworth at Tuscola in three sets. The Super Sectionals will be played on Monday. NCOE and Hardin Calhoun play at Trico, Windsor will take on Cissna Park at Lexington.
The #1 ranked team in 2a, Mater Dei, won the Staunton Sectional with a win over Columbia 27-25, 25-16. They advance to play Quincy Notre Dame Monday at Pana. Carmi beat Newton in straight sets at Fairfield. They will play Bloomington Central Catholic at Arthur.
In 3a, Mascoutah won the Salem Sectional beating Waterloo in a match moved to SWIC by a final score of 25-19, 25-19. The Lady Indians advance to Effingham on Monday when they get Apollo Conference power Mahomet Seymour.
In 4a, O’Fallon lost to the hosts at Normal West 12-25, 25-23, 21-25.
