Salem’s new Police Chief Susan Miller will be formally sworn into her new position at Monday night’s City Council meeting.
Miller takes over for retiring chief Kyle Ambuehl who will remain active in security work. Miller has served her entire 26 year career at the Salem Police Department and has most recently been Deputy Chief.
There will be a meet and greet for Miller prior to the city council meeting at 5:30 Monday evening.
The city council will also hold a second reading on the 2024 property tax levy for the 2025 property tax bills. The city finance director is asking for a 3.99 percent increase.
Mayor Nick Farley is expected to appoint Ivy Balla to the Historical Commission.
The council will be asked to surplus phones from the old phone system. They will be marketed and sold online.
A closed session is scheduled to discuss personnel.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
