Kids went home with lots of candy after making their way through downtown Salem, at several trunk or treats, and in the neighborhoods Thursday night.
Salem Police and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department reported no issues. Both were also set up on the courthouse square giving out candy.
The traditional costume contest at the Salem Theatre sponsored by the Salem Recreation Department started the evening.
In the three and under category, Thatcher Dobyn took first, Elsie Curray was second and Prue Moore was third. In the four to seven-year-old bracket, Luca Brendon was first, Axton Rose was second, and Dalis Myers was third. In the eight to 12 age bracket, Avery Runkle was first, Tucker Howe was second and Kayner Rynes was third. In the family division, the Dinesour family of Casey, Ryan, Evan, Maverik, and Emily Young took first place. The Summers family took second, and Milan and Izayah Romerez took third.
