Three candidates for two Centralia City Council seats; Castellari not seeking re-election

Three candidates filed for the 2025 Centralia City Council election before the Monday deadline: Andrew J Heser, Marion “Bunny” Garrett, and incumbent Robert “Rob” Jackson. Because Jackson and Heser both filed on the first day of filing, there will be a lottery held on November 5 to determine which of them is placed first on the ballot.

Council member Jeff Castellari, whose seat is also up for election, did not file and will not be seeking re-election after serving a four-year term. When asked his reason for stepping aside, Castellari said he felt the time was right to move on.

“It’s been four years. Let some new blood come in and possibly make changes. This council does a great job… it’s just time for me to do some other things and venture out.”

Castellari noted some of the council’s accomplishments he got to be a part of during his term.

“Some balanced budgets, doing the right things for Centralia, seeing things happen. It’s a team effort, not one person,” Castellari said. “The biggest thing is the water plant under construction. People don’t realize how precious water is for us and all the outlying communities… I know that everyone will carry on and progress is being made.”

The city council election will take place on April 1, 2025.
