Two people were airlifted from the scene of a crash on US 50 at the Omega Road in Iuka during the noon hour on Sunday.
State Police are handling the crash, but say it remains active and information on how the crash occurred and who was involved is not yet available.
Iuka Fire Chief Kenny Eagan says it appears the pickup truck was broadsided by the semi. The fire department had to extricate the male driver. The female passenger had been removed from the pickup truck by passersby and was sitting along the roadway.
Air Evac helicopters were called to the scene to transfer both to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.
United Medical Response and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department also assisted in handling the crash.
