A 23-year-old Centralia man has been arrested for alleged domestic battery, endangering the lift of a child, interference with a report of domestic violence and intimidation following a September incident. William Westhersby of US 51 north was taken into custody during a Sunday traffic stop. Centralia Police say the incident reportedly occurred after Weathersby went to the home of a protected person and ransacked her home. He is also accused of grabbing her by the neck and kicking her, and threatening her with more violence if she attempted to call the police.
Two others are being held on no-bond felony failure to appear in court warrants. Both 33-year-old Bianca Meeks of Gary Street in Centralia and 39-year-old Shannon Hicks of North Hamilton in Salem.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has turned over an early Sunday incident where five to six shots were reportedly fired by a vehicle from the 2600 block of Tonti Road northwest of Salem to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The sheriff’s department reports an area resident was able to follow the vehicle and provide a partial description and license plate number. There were three occupants in the vehicle. Deputies believe they may have been involved in poaching. Two spent guns hells were located in the roadway.
