Central City Police suspended a lengthy high-speed police chase when it was returning to Centralia Tuesday night due to the danger to other motorists.

Chief Jamie Ramsey reports the chase began when an officer tried to stop a vehicle after confirming a citizen complaint it was driving recklessly.  The driver sped away and the chase through Centralia reached 100 miles per hour near Walmart.   The pursuit continued to the Shattuc area before the driver headed back into Centralia.

At that point the chase was suspended due to the danger to other motorists.

Ramsey says they know who the driver was and he is currently being sought for multiple traffic citations.

The crash occurred at 7:20 Tuesday night.
