The Salem City Council Monday night will be asked to apply for a $1-million grant to reline approximately 10,000 linear feet of sewer line.  The grant will require an increase in sewer rates for some customers, but a rebate for the amount of the increase is also on the agenda.

The council will be asked to approve a 3.99-percent increase in this year’s property tax levy to meet the city’s needs.

The council will be asked to increase the cost of a three year golf cart sticker from $35 to $60 and the cost of food vendor licenses from $25 to $100.  City Manager Annette Sola says the current costs of the licenses do not cover the cost of issuing them.

Gonzelez Companies have submitted Engineering Service Agreements to the Illinois Department of Transportation to make repairs and resurface Airport Road from Mills Cart to Boone and West Whitaker from Delmar to West Westgate Avenue.  The cost of the agreement for Airport Road is $70,500 and $97,000 for West Whitaker.

The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
