Candidate petition filing for the two openings on the Salem and Centralia City Councils is getting underway Monday.

Only one candidate was at Salem City Hall at 7:30 Monday morning to file petitions.  He is Frank Addison, who will get the first position on the ballot as a result.

City Clerk Tabitha Meador reports a total of six petition packets have been taken out at city hall so far, including by incumbents Jim Koehler and Royce Bringwald.

In Centralia, two candidates were in line at 7:30 and will be in a lottery to determine the first on the ballot.   They are incumbent Rob Jackson as well as Andrew Heser.

City Clerk Kim Enke reports there are now 11 petition packets out.  The other incumbent, Jeff Castellari, has not picked up a packet.   He has not responded to a call from WJBD/WSIQ seeking to find out if he was going to run for re-election.

Candidates in Salem and Centralia have until 5 pm on October 28th to return petitions to get on the ballot.
