Blood Drive in honor of Joe Black collects 77 units of blood

The Red Cross Community Blood Drive in Salem in honor of long time business and civic leader Joe Black collected 77 units of blood on Wednesday.

In all, 86 presented to donate blood.

Black who is fighting a rare form of blood cancer and has received multiple units and platelets of blood was at most of the blood drive to greet those giving blood to not only help him but others in the community and nation in need of blood.

The winners of the $100 gift cards presented by the Salem Lions Club and Salem Shriners went to Annette Whalen and Eric Schmidt.

Salem Township Hospital, the Salem Lions, Salem Shriners, and Salem Masons who all cosponsored the drive thank all those who present to give blood.
