A blood drive in honor of Joe Black is set for Wednesday at the Salem Community Activity Center.

Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator Zach Elmore says Salem Township Hospital, Salem Lions Club, and the Salem Shriners Club are all coming together to host the drive in honor of Joe.

“This blood drive is in honor of Mr. Joe Black and his family, who has been battling an ongoing blood illness, as well as been a very passionate donor in the past, and has been receiving some blood products recently.” Elmore said. “A very involved member of the Salem community for multiple decades, and we wanted to honor both him and his family for all of the work and support he has given for our blood drives and community in the past.”

Black has been an active member of the Salem Business Community for more than 60 years and is a more than 50 year member of the Lions, Shriners, and Masons.

The Salem Lions and Salem Shriners are both providing $100 gift cards to be given away to one of the donors.  In addition, the Red Cross is providing $10 Amazon.com Gift Cards by email to all those giving blood.  You’ll also be automatically entered into a draw to win one of three $5,000 gift cards that will be given away to all those who give blood in October.

The blood drive is from noon to five on Wednesday at the Salem Community Activity Center.  To help the Red Cross prepare, you are encouraged to make an appointment by visiting redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-Red Cross.
