The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has received a third report of a gunfire incidents over the weekend, with at least two of the incidents tied to vehicles.
The third report was made on Monday and involved an incident in the 5800 block of State Route 37 south of Brubaker Road around 1:30 Sunday morning. A resident in the area heard about eight gunshots coming from a vehicle that later turned around in the neighbor’s driveway.
As in the other two cases, no vehicle description could be obtained, and deputies could not locate anything suspicious when patrolling the area.
The earlier reports came from the 7300 block of Malone Road in rural Alma at 9:52 Sunday evening where a single shot was reportedly fired when a car stopped near their driveway before leaving northbound at a high rate of speed. The first incident reported was from a resident in the 4900 block of Brubaker Road in rural Salem at 1:40 Saturday morning where what sounded like six gunshots were heard outside the caller’s home.
